What is a picture window best used for?

Picture windows are ideal wherever you want to frame a view and let in as much light as possible, living rooms, stairwells, above kitchen sinks or high on a feature wall. Since they do not open, they are best where you do not need ventilation.

Are fixed windows more energy-efficient than operating ones?

Yes. With no moving sash there is no gap for air to leak through, so a fixed window has the lowest air infiltration of any style. Combined with Low-E, argon-filled glass, it is the most efficient window you can install.

Can I get ventilation with a picture window?
