What is the difference between single and double hung?

On a single hung window only the bottom sash slides up; the top is fixed. On a double hung window both the top and bottom sashes move, which gives you more ventilation control and lets both sashes tilt in for cleaning.

Are hung windows easy to clean?

Yes. Both sashes on a double hung tilt inward, so you can wash the outside glass from inside your home. That is a real advantage on second and third-floor windows where reaching the exterior is difficult.

Are hung windows energy-efficient?

Modern hung windows are, yes. We seal the meeting rail with an interlock and weatherstripping and glaze them with Low-E, argon-filled units, so they perform far better than the older windows they usually replace.

Are hung windows a good fit for a traditional home?
